Can I date her without her sharing my faith?
Hi guy of 17,
I’m so glad you ask about this!
It is not so easy to give advice to people about who they should start a relationship with. However, there are some things that it is smart for everyone who likes someone and who is thinking of starting a relationship, to think about.
The Bible verse ‘love your neighbour as yourself’ is not about romantic relationships. Rather, it means that we should treat everyone well. It means that we should be helpful, kind, respectful and good towards everyone no matter their faith or what opinions they have.
Most of us have friends and family who don’t share our faith or opinions, but we love them and we enjoy spending time with them. However, when we are going to choose a partner, it is important to find a person who we can stand together and go in the same direction with. It is hard to be in a relationship with someone who doesn’t share our faith. It says in 2 Corinthians 6:14 that we should not marry someone who doesn’t share our faith, because faith is such a central part of our lives.
We can feel like we’re in love with people who are not a good match. That’s why we need to choose a partner on other terms than feelings.
We have some articles about this topic on our website, so I hope you can take the time to read them before you decide.
