Ovulation

Ovulation is the time in a woman’s menstrual cycle when an egg cell is released from the ovary, is caught in a Fallopian tube, and is taken down to the womb (uterus).

The time between ovulation and the next menstruation is fairly regular, being from twelve to fourteen days. The time between the start of the menstruation and the next ovulation is also about fourteen days, but this can vary widely from woman to woman, and from month to month.

The egg cell can be fertilised for about 24 hours after ovulation. Some women feel the ovulation as a slight pain in the abdomen.
